Tera is a fantasy MMORPG set in the Exiled Realm of Arborea. Born out of two sleeping titans, the continent is now a war-torn realm between its mortal inhabitants and otherworldly invaders. Currently on offer are seven different player races and 13 different player classes.

The Elder Scrolls Online

Set on the continent of Tamriel like the other games, it takes place over a thousand years before the events of Skyrim and 800 years before that of Oblivion or Morrowind. Similar to the other games, players choose from ten different races and then their character class. The game is a mixture of story quests, side missions, and free-roaming exploration. Tamriel is engulfed by war and the player can join different factions to support their claim for the Imperial throne. The popularity of this latest TES game cannot be underestimated.

Black Desert Online

Black Desert Online takes place in a warring fantasy world where two rival nations vie for supremacy. The world features a dynamic weather system that has an impact on gameplay. The game features an economy centered on trade routes, based on the commodities or items that players farm or craft. Players can wage war to control trade routes, whether at sea or on land. The game is also unique in having a player run the justice system. Imprisoned players can work off their debt or attempt to escape.

Rift

A free to play MMORPG, Rift is set in the fantasy world of Telara. Two factions, the Guardians and the Defiant, are locked in a war against each other and the monsters that emerge from rifts. Players are Ascended, resurrected superhuman warriors tasked with defeating the rift threat. Players can choose from five different classes but the addition of preset configurations (roles) allows players to switch when out of combat. A player can become a healer, fighter, or wizard as required. Up to twenty roles can be kept. Rift allows for extensive character customization. Teams of 5 can cooperate to fight through dungeons whereas the endgame of Rift involves large 10 or 20 player team Raids. Occasionally rifts spawn in-game, forcing nearby players to cooperate or else run the risk of the monsters conquering a segment of the map.

Dragon Nest

Dragon Nest is a free to play Korean MMORPG. The creator goddess of the land has been poisoned by her sister and the only cure is a missing grail. The players are heroes who must combat dragons and other dangers while gathering power stones. Using these they can communicate with the sleeping goddess and find the grail. Dragon Nest is skill based. Players increase in strength as they level up but it is still possible for a lower level player to defeat a more powerful one by using their wits and skills. This ensures that combat is unpredictable and much more dangerous than in other MMORPGs.
