Games like SMITE are very popular in recent years, especially in the eSports scene. SMITE, however, is quite unique in its field, especially at the time it was released. To mix standard MOBA gameplay with 3rd person view proved highly successful for Hi-Rez Studios, causing even gamers not interested in traditional MOBAs to play their innovative title.
SMITE puts you in control of various mythological gods, such as Zeus, Ra, Athena, Aphrodite and much more. Constant updates keep the game alive, introducing skins and new gods over time. Gods are divided into 5 classes: Assassin, Guardian, Hunter, Mage and Warrior.
There are some interesting modes not seen in regular MOBAs included here as well. Each game mode in SMITE has its own special map. Arena mode pits two teams of five players in the beautiful Coliseum, with the goal to reduce the enemy’s ticket pool from 500 to 0. It’s an all-out deathmatch as there are no lanes and no towers. Taking down an enemy god or minion reduces enemy tickets, but you can also bring your minions to the enemy’s portal to do the same.
In Joust mode, two teams of three players battle it out in a map with only one lane, one tower, one Phoenix, and a Titan at the base of both teams. The objective is to destroy the Titan, just like your regular MOBA, but with the addition of a jungle boss that if your team takes down, disables the opposing teams’ nearest construction.
These are just a few of the many great and fun game modes available in SMITE. They are all definitely worth playing. If you’ve already played lots of SMITE and unraveled its unique, tactical gameplay, or are just looking for a different game to play, then keep on reading to find out more games like SMITE.
