Games like Massive Chalice try to offer fun turn-based gameplay, while putting their own twist on the strategic genre. They put you in worlds of varying unique styles, mixing elements from popular titles in the genre and creating their own features to stand out from the rest. Various stories are told as one explores diverse lands and raises his army along the way.
Massive Chalice gives you the role of an Immortal Ruler tasked with fighting a 300-year war against a dangerous enemy called the Cadence. Throughout this long war, you’ll need to plan years ahead to be ready for the battles that await your nation. This doesn’t mean that you’ll be able to use the same trusty heroes, but instead, due to the longevity of the war, Massive Chalice introduces a unique system called the Bloodline.
With this Bloodline system, you have the ability to marry your heroes together, raising children that will later become warriors ready for battle. However, these soon-to-be heroes may not end up with the traits that you want. They can end up getting the best skills from their parents, or the worst, making the game more interesting.
Your brave heroes will get older as time goes on, eventually leading to the end of their service. If they have shown enough fearlessness and courage during turn-based combat, then there’s a possibility for their weapon to become a Bloodline Relic. You can give this Relic to anyone living in the same house.
Each time you play Massive Chalice is a unique experience, as you start off with randomized heroes from three primary classes. You never know what kind of advantage or disadvantage you will have with your squad, but that’s what makes Massive Chalice fun to play again after beating it.
