King’s Bounty: The Legend
King’s Bounty: The Legend lets you choose from three types of characters to start your journey in a fantasy world filled with evil mages, brave knights and lovely princesses. This is a spiritual successor to the original King’s Bounty, and a pretty good one too. As your hero rides on his trusty horse, you get to explore a large world filled with loot and monsters roaming the land in real time.

A turn-based battle is commenced once your hero encounters an enemy in his path. This is when your army comes into play, while your hero can only summon troops or active spells to further your chances of winning the battle that is being fought either on sea or land. Overall it’s a worthy sequel with a story that can take surprising turns as you raise your army and even find a lovely wife for your brave hero.

Despite its age and dated graphics, Lords of Magic is still a fun mix of turn-based and real-time gameplay. What’s interesting here is that unlike most titles where battles are turn-based and everything else is real-time, Lords of Magic decides to make it the other way around.
